Old crochet magazines

I had fun looking through Mom's old crochet stuff. The Learn to Crochet one says copyright 1946 and the second book says 1951.

We have a lot to be thankful for

"Over the river and through the woods, to grandmother's house we go....". We are headed to Mom's for Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey and ham and all the fixin's. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

I haven't crocheted in years but I wanted a crocheted trim so I tried a sample of a free pattern I found online. I think I need some more practice, but it is a pretty pattern. I also have been trying to make folded paper snowflake but it is hard, so I may not continue that project :) Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Bitty Booties

My cross stitching was delayed because I found a new project that I had to try..Bitty Booties. I found this design by Heather Bailey on her website ...www.HellomynameisHeather.com. These are the first two I have tried and I just love them. I am going to use them for Christmas gifts and put some sort of goodies inside them. I think they would be cute as a tree ornament too. I would love to find a pattern for ballet slippers.

My favorite cross stitch project

I have been enjoying reading everyone's blogs and seeing all your great projects. I wanted to share my favorite project I did many years ago. My pictures don't show the pretty beads too well. The first photo is the cover of the pattern book. I haven't stitched in a while, but all your lovely blogs have made me get all my supplies out and I hope to finish some ongoing projects...that is if I can stop looking at all your fabulous blogs!

Special things

My husband's aunt gave me these beautiful note cards in 1988. A friend of hers had tatted the flowers and then attached them to note papers. I thought they were too pretty to use! I think the daisy one has the most detail. Aren't they pretty!

Beautiful painting

I just wanted to share a painting I love by James Whistler. This is "Nocturne in Pink and Grey, Portrait of Lady Meux..1881-82. The way he painted the material in the dress is beautiful..I just love everything about this painting. You may know Whistler by his famous painting of his mother.
