Another neat idea

I think is a beautiful idea, take the doors off the armoire....I can see using this for craft and fabric supplies. This piece is from paintmewhite.com...she has some beautiful projects.

Neat idea!

I just had to share this photo. Cut the legs off sideboard or dresser etc, and add cushion to make a seat. What a great idea!

Great Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving at my mom's house. She has improved greatly since her fall in Sept that resulted in fractures. My sister did most of the cooking and it was delicious. Hubby and I are enjoying the left overs today. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving as well!

Nifty website

Here's a nice website I ran across...If you're like me you're always looking for new ideas. And they have catagories for different crafts. I'm not attached to this website or get reimbursed in any way, just wanted to pass it along. Enjoy.

Happy Halloween!

I entered this Barbie doll in the sewn doll clothes division at the fair, but she didn't win at all! She was my favorite entry, I even made her a little black cat.

The fair opened

I got my fair entry results and was pleased with most of the wins. My pink Scottie dog got a blue, the sewn Barbie cape and pants got a blue, my blue doily got a blue, the small white doily got a blue, Snow bunny got a red, and the white crochet Barbie dress got a blue! I will post some more photos later AND show what didn't win a thing...LOL!

Fair entries

Here's one of my fair entries, for the crochet animal or toy category. I found this Snow Bunny pattern for free on Ravelry. I added a fluffy pom pom for the tail, a little pink chalk inside the ears and on the cheeks, and I added a little green basket for it to sit in. Turned in my entries on Wed and should find out Frinday how I did! (Mom is doing much better since her fall, although she still is in bed most of the day, it will take some time for the fractures to heal.)

Mom

Mom took a fall at home Sept 13 and has a couple of pelvic fractures. She was in the hospital a week and now my sister and I are taking care of her at her home. Hopefully she will be able to regain her mobility, but it is a struggle. Anyway, I don't have much time for blogging for a while!

Not a success...

I'm entering a catagory in our local fair for doll clothes and I wanted some pretty shoes for a Barbie doll. I don't want to pay a fortune for the shoes and I don't like the plastic ones I have so I attempted to make shoes....but I wasn't successful. Barbie's foot is so darn small and she has no toes to speak of, and the shoes won't fit. And they don't look so good anyway. Oh well, I tried!

Still here!

I am still here....I am feverishly trying to finish projects for our local fair......

Finished!

I finally finished this table hotpad (this photo was taken before the final black edging was added).

Happy 4th of July!

I've started a new project (even though I have several others in the works!), this table hot pad is from the Leisure Arts book I found at Dollar Tree. It has a back so it is thick, and the book shows other uses like the pillow shown.

Good Deals!

These old ads show some of the dishes I found at Goodwill by the pound. I love these old style dishes.

I love to go to Goodwill by the pound, and glassware is on special 39 cents a pound. My big find of the day were 15 pieces of the china pattern we have, Mikasa French Countryside for $6.50!

I also found 2 old crochet doily books for about 20 cents each.......

The two sweet little saucers on the left are unmarked, but the pink saucers are Pink Radiance pattern by Homer Laughlin...these four cost 59 cents.....I don't know what I am going to do with them but I had to "save them" from an unknown fate!

This plate is "Ever Yours" Boutonniere by Taylor-Smith-Taylor.....and the 4 cups and saucers are "Golden Wheat" pattern. Golden Wheat dishes were given away in laundry detergent boxes, the Duz brand shown in the old ad earlier. No maker is shown but it is strongly thought that it was made by Homer Laughlin company. .....The plate and cups and saucers were $1.95.
This cute bowl is Zrike Everyday, Spring Blush pattern only 25 cents!
I have to stop going to Goodwill, I've run out of space!

Have you seen this?

I found this neat potholder pattern on ravelry...it is very functional and the technique or stitch makes it so thick you don't have to make two layers. The free pattern is on= blogs.the tucker.com, under her crochet section. And look at the crochet book I found at Dollar Tree! I have been admiring these patterns online. They are large hotpads or just for decoration, very unusual patterns.

Doily

I finished this doily, need to block. The color is actually a pretty light blue. I'm still looking for the perfect pattern to enter in the fair this year. I have more to post, trying to catch up because I was without a computer for so long! This pattern was from Crochet Decorative Magazine #43, by Gisela Maier, don't know the year. Used Cebelia #20 Sea Mist Blue and a #10 hook.

Computer woes!

The computer was healed for only a little while, so I am using mom's to post this. I guess I'm in the market for a new puter....yuk! Anyway, I'm still here, just can't post very often......

We visited a pretty park near us today. It is fairly new and they plan to expand and add a Japanese garden and much more. The weather was so nice today, hope you enjoy these pictures!

Crochet

I blocked the small Vanity Fair doily a little more, it's from Hand Crochet by Royal Society Book No. 1 1943. It's a fun pattern and I think I will do the large one also. Started a new project..by Gisela Maier in Crochet Decorative Magazine #43. It's an older magazine. The Cebelia #20 thread is a prettier baby blue than it shows in the picture.

Finished one, started another

I finished the "World of Contrasts" doily, just need to block some more. And started a fun doily, Vanity Fair No. 1-46 from Royal Society Book No. 1 1943. Using Cebelia # 30 and a steel hook #10.

It's fixed!

Hope to get some new photos posted soon.....

I miss my computer!

I still don't have my computer back, so I'm posting from Mom's computer....no fun!

Computer woes

My computer is down so I won't post for a while, using Mom's computer to post this message. How I wish I were a computer genius so I could repair it myself!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hope everyone has a "Sweet" Valentine's Day!

Crochet shawl

I finished a shawl for mom, I hadn't mentioned it earlier because it was a surprise. I used free pattern from ravelry...."All Season Shawl" by Priscilla Hewitt. I made it shorter than the pattern called for, and changed the border trim to a simpler shell. It's made with Lion Brand Wool-Ease in Wood color.
