Crafty tip

I just wanted to pass this along to everyone...you may or may not know that your blog photos are stored by blogger in Picasa album for you. If you scroll to the bottom of your dashboard page under the column "Tools and Resources" click on "Picasa Web Albums." Once on that page, in the search box in upper right hand corner, if you type Magic Crochet, you will see that many people have pictures of that magazine Magic Crochet. You can find patterns there and see the beautiful pictures and projects that magazine had. Most of you probably know this already, but I just found out on a forum, don't remember where, and thought I would pass along. Also, does everyone know about "The Wayback Machine?" Let me know if you don't..LOL!

Yard sales

We went to a couple of yard sales this morning. I bought this wire dress form for 50 cents. It's 15 inches tall. I (hubby helped) took off most of the wire around it and added a few touches of my own. I think it turned out cute. But I was really tickled to get the old crochet magazines and books. I had never seen Crochet Magic magazine. Isn't that doily pattern pretty? The magazines are from the '80s and 90's. The two oldest books were from 1947 and 1943. I got the magazines and books for a dollar each. She had LOTS more but I was able to contain myself.

More crochet

I'm still crocheting vintage potholders! Here are my latest two. I got these patterns from 1952 vintage pattern books I purchased. I also bought an old cheese dish at a yard sale and found the glass top is just perfect to cover a "stack" of potholders.

Crochet

I have been having fun crocheting some vintage pot holders. I found most of these patterns free on the internet. I think the last one (pink and white) is my favorite so far. I would love to copy the pot holders I bought at the antique fair the other week, but they are too complicated. I am expecting some vintage pattern books I bought any day now, and I hope there are some good pot holder patterns in them. Mom had some good news on her health tests...Yea!

Finished

I finished my copy of Grandma Briggs' pot holder...I think it turned out pretty good considering I had to make up the pattern. Anyone know where to find vintage patterns for free (like this style of pot holder) on the internet?

Crochet project

Grandma Briggs crocheted this hot pad for me many, many years ago. I tried to find a pattern for it on line but couldn't so I am trying to copy it. Here's my progress so far. I had a pattern for the flower in the center, but I am improvising the rest of it LOL! I think it looks pretty good so far.
