Crochet shawl

I finished a shawl for mom, I hadn't mentioned it earlier because it was a surprise. I used free pattern from ravelry...."All Season Shawl" by Priscilla Hewitt. I made it shorter than the pattern called for, and changed the border trim to a simpler shell. It's made with Lion Brand Wool-Ease in Wood color.

Slow going and new crochet stitch

I've made a little progress on the doily, the triples are killing my hands and I don't do triples that well...the doily isn't blocked yet of course, but I will eventually finish it!. I found a new to me crochet stitch I've been practicing...Crocodile stitch, or dragon stitch. Each row layers over the previous row. You can line the stitches up like mine, or you can stagger the stitches. Here's a nice tutorial from yarn muse....

New Projects and bargains

I found some Christmas mark downs at Michael's Arts & Crafts....these blank notecards, 8 cards and envelopes per pack for 40 cents each. They have knitting on the front. I thought they would be perfect to hold crochet snowflakes in for next year as gifts. The little scottie dogs are stick on rhinestones, 40 cents each too. I really like scottie dog patterns since I did the Christmas felt ornament. I even found a scottie dog crochet hot pad pattern I will show when I finish....too cute! I started another doily..."World of Contrasts" by Glendola Hodges. Found in an old Decorative Crochet Magazine #17. Using #20 thread and #9 hook.
